Do i need a commercial engineer?
You may need a commercial gas engineer even in your own home. If the appliances in your house total 70Kw or more you will need a commercial gas engineer or if you have a commercial appliance such as a Vaillant ecoTEC 46Kw combi boiler, you will also need a commercial gas engineer.
You will need to use a commercial gas engineer if your installation, heating or hot water system serves a shop, hairdressers, school, care home, community building or factory etc even if the appliances are domestic appliances.
If your home heating or hot water systems also serve an attached business premises you will also need an engineer qualified to work on commercial gas systems.
GAP Plumbing and Heating Ltd will always send out an engineer who is qualified to work on your system. We have engineers qualified to work on appliances up to 8 Megawatts or 8000Kw and pipework up to 150mm or 6 inch diameter.
Please check that any gas engineer you may use is qualified to work on your system.
To check a company or gas engineer has the correct qualifications to carry out work on your installation safely visit the Gas Safe website. Gas Safe took over the job from Corgi in 2009 of making sure that gas engineers are properly trained and qualified to work on gas systems and appliances in England. Corgi are no longer the gas registration body and being Corgi registered does not mean the engineer is competent. Look for the gas safe badge.
